Three students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, tragically lost their lives in a multi-vehicle road crash at Powerline Junction near Aleje on the route toward Ikorodu Roundabout. The accident occurred on November 7, 2025, when an unregistered sand-laden tipper truck suffered brake failure while traveling at high speed, colliding with several vehicles including a Toyota Corolla, an MPV bus, and multiple tricycles. Seven others, including some tricycle operators, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals. The remains of the deceased students were taken to the General Hospital, Ikorodu mortuary.

LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased while condemning reckless driving and poor vehicle maintenance as the root causes of such avoidable tragedies. The accident prompted swift emergency responses from LASTMA, FRSC, and police officers to restore traffic flow and prevent further incidents.

In political news, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is facing an internal crisis ahead of its national convention, where about 3,000 delegates are expected to attend. The party struggles with factional disputes and leadership conflicts that have caused uncertainty over the convention's smooth conduct. These internal struggles come amid heightened efforts to unify the party spirits ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Images from the crash scene show wrecked vehicles and emergency responders attending to victims, while photos from PDP meetings depict tense discussions and delegates in heated exchanges during the lead-up to the convention.
