Wike grants defaulters in Abuja more time to pay fines; alleged forgery rocks PDP over Ekiti gov primary

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has granted a final 14-day extension for property owners who violated land use and development regulations to pay a ₦5 million violation fee and comply with land use change approvals. This grace period began on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, and applies to property owners in Abuja's upscale districts including Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse. Failure to comply after the deadline will lead to enforcement actions by the FCT Administration.

Affected streets include Gana Street, Maitama District; Usuma Street, Maitama; Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Asokoro; Aminu Kano Crescent and Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent in Wuse II; Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Gimbiya Street, and Onitsha Street in Garki II; as well as Ogbomosho Street, Lafia Close, Yola Street, Abriba Close, Danbatta Street, Ringim Close, and Ilorin Street in Garki I District.

This extension follows an earlier 30-day window that expired, with the government’s intensified efforts resulting in increased land revenue surpassing ₦1 trillion annually due to penalties and better enforcement. Wike emphasized these measures are designed to curb land speculation and ensure efficient use of land within Abuja.

Separately, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has been rocked by alleged forgery issues over the Ekiti State governorship primary, causing internal friction and disputes within the party ranks. These allegations have caused tensions as party members dispute the legitimacy of some primary election processes, fueling uncertainty ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti.

While official images include photos of Nyesom Wike addressing the media and government officials at land administration offices, visuals related to the PDP primary controversy feature tense party meetings and media coverage depicting concerned party members during heated discussions.
